At a glance
The Beast of Bray Road is a reported wolf-like figure associated with rural roads near Elkhorn, Wisconsin. The public legend took shape through journalist Linda Godfrey’s 1991 reporting, which gathered local accounts of a large, furred creature seen upright or on four legs. No physical evidence has established an unknown animal, and ordinary canids remain among the proposed explanations.

Tradition & history
Godfrey’s December 1991 article brought several recent reports and a county humane officer’s file into one narrative. Older stories were attached later, illustrating how a local report can develop into a broader regional legend through repeated retelling.

In fiction
Later films, documentaries, and podcasts often identify the creature outright as a werewolf. The original reports are less definite and belong to modern cryptid lore rather than a documented continuation of European werewolf belief.
